1 Feb 2011
On the eve of an expected biggest snowstorm of the year in the GTA, and one which we have not experienced since February, 2006 (which I have now forgotten all about), I am trying to avoid thinking about the 20-30 cm of snow which could fall on our city streets and my driveway and trying to shovel. Instead, I'm thinking, "Great cuddle weather!" Well, reality check: I think I want to just bury myself indoors, maybe like the groundhogs who may be buried underground under a mountain of snow!
It's going to be Groundhog Day on February 2nd, Chinese New Year on February 3rd, and Valentine's Day on February 14th, and the Canadian Auto Show (in Toronto) starting on February 18th. Okay, I just had to throw in the Auto Show in there, even though it's not a holiday -- if it was, I should be able to take two weeks off. I do think that February is going to be a fun month! The BIG storms shall pass, but, more importantly, the special occasions, fun times and loving family and friends are what we will remember for years to come. It's not warm out there, so, create some warm memories instead! And, if you would like to join me for hot tea or hot chocolate, I'M GAMED! I'll take any warmth I can get!!!
Speaking of memories, let me take some of you down memory lane. On July 7, 1967, the Beatles first released their single, "All You Need is Love" in the U.K. The songwriting duo, John Lennon and Paul McCartney, were asked to write a song containing a simple message which can be understood by all nationalities. (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_You_Need_Is_Love)
I have learned and been inspired by many songs which I have come across in my life. "All You Need is Love" is still relevant and inspiring today. It's not just a song to be sung on Valentine's Day. Love is what we need all year round. When you think you can't go on, when you feel that no one loves you, when you think you have nothing more to give, when you think you can't be in a relationship anymore or cry because you have lost a loved one, remember these words:
All you need is love.
All you need is love.
All you need is love, love.
Love is all you need.
(See www.lyricsfreak.com/b/beatles/all+you+need+is+love_10026698.html for the entire lyrics)
Listen to music every day -- especially music that you like. Don't be afraid to get attached to songs. They can be therapeutic, inspiring, and encouraging. Find songs which have a positive message. Embrace songs which make your heart sing. And, perhaps like me, you will find a community of people who share your love for particular songs and the songwriters/performers of those songs. Remember last month, I told you that it was time for me to change the ringtone on my phone? I did not download Ke$ha's "The Harold Song". I chose Justin Bieber's "Baby". I may have been born in the 1960's before the Beatles released "All You Need is Love" singles in the U.K., but, I still keep up to date with today's songs, songwriters and performers. How will you know you don't like certain songs if you don't try listening to them? "Baby, baby, baby, oh....". LOL.
More trips down memory late -- I'm going to take you back to the February, 2005's Issue 3 of KaTsZoNe which you can find at www.katszone.com/articles/article/2707847/97907.htm. I can't believe I'm now writing Issue/Episode #73! For those of you who are on my e-mail list, I will attach the Word version. In February, 2005, it was the Year of the Rooster. We are entering the Year of the Metal Rabbit in 2011. I've had some technology glitches for several weeks, on and off, so, it's been a challenge trying to research online. I am still working on the section, "Year of the Rabbit 2011", so, please check my website www.katszone.com in the next few days.
Take time to enjoy warm February moments! I will check back with you in March -- looking forward to spring! C'mon Groundhogs -- come out, come out, and give us an early spring!
Big hugs and warm wishes!
