KaTsZoNe Newsletters > KaTsZoNe - Issue 79 - Enlightenment

1 Aug 2011

It feels so strange to say, Happy August!  I can't believe only another month and a half before Fall.  Don't scream in despair just yet.  I'm sure there's more great weather ahead and time to go out there and have fun!

I have had several random thoughts which I shared with some friends in July.  Those of you on my KaTsZoNe mailing list may not have received everything.  I figured, at the time I wrote them down, that only certain people might appreciate them.  Then, I started to think, maybe KaTsZoNe doesn't have to be a monthly issue.  There is a newsletter I subscribe to which sends out shorter texts throughout the month.  I love that idea because content does not become too stale.  In the investment world, information cannot be stale, and in that case, it is more useful to have up to date information.

So, what about KaTsZoNe?  How current does it need to be?  Do readers want to receive random thoughts (like "blogs") throughout the month?  Not sure what you think, but, perhaps, I'll give it a try in August.  Your feedback would be great, after I give it a try.

Those of you on the KaTsZoNe mailing list will hopefully have received at least this random thought I sent out on July 26th about "Beefarianism".  It came to me on July 26th after eating a Hero Burger.  This is what I wrote:

"This afternoon, I've achieved oneness with the Hero Burger. I've had good hotdogs and great spicy curly fries but never felt ONENESS with anything until now -- the HERO BURGER.

The Hindus treat cows as sacred (maybe that's where the expression, "Holy cow" came from) but not all Hindus worship the cow. I think if I ever do start a religion, where enjoying a Hero Burger is part of the religion, maybe followers should be called Beefarians. Ooops…too late! Looks like some have already called themselves Beefarians -- but, they just eat beef all the time. They don't necessarily become ONE with the COW!"

Well, unfortunately, the idea of becoming a Beefarian is now out the window because a couple hours after lunch, my legs started to itch.  This is not unusual for me, especially after eating certain foods -- particularly,  beef.  I think it's the higher acid levels which I am sensitive to especially in my lower legs which is the major parts where I still have psoriasis.  Sadly, I cannot be ONE with the COW every day!

I know this may seem pretty far out!  I have to tell you that this thought came to me because a couple weeks ago, I read something in the news about an Austrian man who tried, three years prior, to have his driving licence photo taken with him wearing a pasta strainer on his head, claiming that it was a requirement of his religion, Pastafarianism.  Austrian authorities approved the photo of the man to wear the pasta strainer since his face was fully visible, but, not because of religious grounds.  It was interesting to read how Pastarianism spread around the world.  You can read the article at  www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-14135523.

If you are wondering whether I will consider Pastafarianism instead of calling myself a Beefarian since pasta is one of my favourite foods, I don't think that will work out either.  According to the prophet, Bobby Henderson, the decline of pirates (who are revered as original Pastafarians) has resulted in global warming.  I don't think I can accept that assertion.  By the way, Henderson wrote the Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster which contains main beliefs of the parody religion, the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster or Pastarianism.  (Sources:

As I continue life's journey and learning about the whole world around me, I realize that I am enlightened by the process of learning something new every day.  And, when I find myself physically connect with something which touches my mind and spirit, that is a new experience of enlightenment that I am really excited to share.  Have you ever experienced such a thing?  Write and let me know!  No pressure -- I won't try to convert you to Beefarianism or Pastafarianism.

Calendar of Events

I have not updated the calendar on KaTsZoNe recently, as I have not decided to attend any different events.  However, some of you, especially those who live in Toronto, may be interested in upcoming events in the GTA.  I recommend the following websites to start your search:

For Festivals & Events Guide in Ontario 2011-2012:

Again, I am going to try and write several times during the month of August, instead of waiting until September.  If you have a chance to enjoy some spaghetti and BEEF meatballs, smile, and think of your "interesting" friend who told you about two ways to be enlightened -- Beef and Pasta!  Doesn't it sound like a great marriage?  Oh, the ideas are just coming to me now.  Perhaps, I could write the Gospel of the Flying Cow?

Enjoy the rest of the summer!

Thanks for sticking with me (like hot summer sweat) in this episode of KaTsZoNe!

Take care,
