1 Feb 2012

Hey everyone,

Happy February!  Happy Heart Month!  Happy Groundhog's Day (Feb. 2nd)!  Happy Valentine's Day (Feb. 14th)!

Just thought I would get all those wishes out of the way before I forget.  January seemed to have zipped by or perhaps I should say, SPUN by!

A couple nights ago, I started to think about what I should be write about for this month's episode of KaTsZoNe.  I was doing laundry at the time.  Then, while I was doing the laundry AGAIN, this time washing my bedsheets and blanket, this topic came to me.  What happened was, because the load was a bit much, I had to put it on SPIN CYCLE for the second time to get rid of the excess water which did not come out the first time.  It always works and I was happy about that!

SPIN CYCLE -- round and round and round she goes, where she stops, nobody knows!  In this case, there is an actual end to a spin cycle.  Then I thought about life.  Do you ever feel like you're on a spin cycle and you wish you could slow down or stop?  The spin cycle in a washing machine is not like being on a merry-go-round, where you're riding up and down and twirling around in circles.  On a merry-go-round, you are spinning at a reasonable speed and it can be a ton of fun.
In a washing machine, the spinning action is going so fast -- unbelievably fast that if we were actually in that machine, we would be confused and lose our senses.  And, there are times in life when we may feel like we are a bit confused and have lost our senses or lost touch with ourselves.  We keep doing what we're doing, hoping that life will be meaningful.  But, our lives keep spinning and spinning and we're not sure how to slow down and be grounded!

In the beginning, you wanted a fulfilling and challenging career.  Maybe, you wanted to marry the guy or girl of your dreams.  You wanted kids and hoped to raise them to become incredible people.  Perhaps, you thought you could turn your hobby into a successful business.  Years go by.  Then, one day, you feel like what's happened in your life?  Along the way, you may have lost touch with good friends of yesterday.  You may have suddenly lost the man or woman you loved.  You did not have kids that you had hoped for.  Somehow, you're not that close to your only sister any more.  You may have lost both parents.

The spin cycle on a washer can be run a second time, but, what about life?  What if there was something you've always wanted to do and never did?  Your life spun by, but, can you still go back in time to do it?  Well, in the movies you can you go back in time!  That seems to have been theme of the two romance (ok..."sappy") movies I saw on the weekend and they made me cry!  It was just what I needed because I probably would not have been inspired to write this thought provoking stuff.  Lord knows, laundry is not that thought provoking nor inspiring - unless it smells incredibly nice and fresh! LOL.  Unfortunately, we cannot turn back the clock, but, as long as you have breath, there is another chance you can have in life.

Have you heard the saying, "Be careful what you wish for because you might just get it?"  Sometimes, maybe it is not so great that you get what you had wished or hoped for because it may turn out badly for your life.  I would rather think, "Hey, I'm putting this on the second spin cycle!"  I may want another chance to recreate my hopes and dreams.   Remember to do this for yourself.  Don't let someone else tell you what to dream - no one can do that except God.  I do believe that God gives us dreams to become the great people that He wants us to be but, He will not force it upon us -- so, why would another human be entitled to force their dreams upon us?  So, that was the theme of ANOTHER movie I saw this past weekend!
The world can change.  I can change.  You can change.  So, why not take advantage of a second chance in life?  Time for the Second Act:  SPIN CYCLE 2!  It could be a better remake than the first!
