KaTsZoNe Newsletters > KaTsZoNe - Issue 39 - Marching Into Spring

1 Mar 2008

Hi everyone,

Glad March is here which means some warmer weather will hopefully soon be upon us in Canada. A friend of mine (Cheryl) in Edmonton, Alberta, tried to describe the cold she experienced.  I don't think I could understand -50C as well as Cheryl, until our brief cold spell in the last days of February in Toronto.  She said, when people see her drive her kids to school which is only five minutes away from her home, it must be cold!  Brrr....  So, I think it's safe to say, those who have endured the exceptionally cold, snowy weather this past month are not going to miss it!  GOODBYE FEBRUARY!!!  WE ARE MARCHING INTO SPRING!!!

On the first weekend in March, I will be attending the annual  Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) convention, the largest of its kind in the world.  Many of you know that I look forward to this time of year because of this convention which I have attended in the past several years.  Since I first started attending the event, I have not missed the Investor's Forum (which is free) as well as visit many of the exhibitors.

One of the highlights in recent years is getting together with my "goldbug" buddies for dinner on Sunday night, many of whom are seasoned investors (in commodities) who are the nicest guys and oftentimes, we trade stories, opinions, experiences we have encountered with the stock markets, mining companies, etc.  Most of us first connected on discussion forums on a site called Silicon Investor (aka SI) and then we met in person at the PDAC.  The PDAC convention brings my goldbug friends to Toronto, from across Canada and the U.S., however, delegates from all over the world attend this convention.  For more information, please see the following websites:

Registration (for full attendance or free Investor's Forum): http://www.pdac.ca/pdac/conv/2008/registration.html

When the PDAC convention ends, Canadian Music Week will begin.  This year, the conference/festival runs from March 5 to March 8.  I had an awesome time last year at CMW when I attended the Tune Up Conference for the first time.  I was happily running around and learned so much from music industry professionals, as well as had a chance to meet some fantastic musicians.  I am not planning to attend the conference this year, however, there are lots of musicians/bands who are performing in the city.  I'm not sure which venues I'll be attending at this time.  If you are super excited about music, seeing live shows, and meeting other music lovers, check out the CMW websites below:

On March 30th, I am going to attend a baptism and I am going to be a godmother!  Yeah!  I'm SO excited!!!  It is a first for me.  My godson's name is Timothy.  Some of you have heard me speak about Chloe, and Chloe is Timothy's older sister.  So, get ready to hear more after Timothy's baptism!

There are a few holidays in March:  St. Patrick's Day (March 17), Good Friday (March 21) and Easter (March 23).  If you observe those holidays, I hope you have fun and will experience joy and abundant blessings!

Catch you again in April!

Take care,

Katherine (Kat/KK)
